Sunnyvale, Calif. – Nov. 5, 2013 – ShoreTel® (NASDAQ: SHOR), the leading provider of
brilliantly simple unified communications solutions, announced that Frost & Sullivan, based on
the findings of its best-practices research, has presented ShoreTel with the Company of the
Year Award for Unified Communications and Collaboration, North America.
“Frost & Sullivan recognizes that ShoreTel has demonstrated competitive strategy excellence,
has properly identified industry trends and has positioned itself for long-term growth through
sustainable strategies that deliver superior customer value,” said Elka Popova, program director
at Frost & Sullivan. “The forward-thinking company offers solutions that help enhance user
productivity, improve operational efficiencies and accelerate business processes. Its solutions
are also easy to deploy and manage, and provide investment protection through scalability,
resiliency, and reliability. ShoreTel is also fully committed to continually enhancing product and

proposition of delivering brilliantly simple communications solutions, along with our unique
architecture, focus on innovation and ability to deliver both premises-based and cloud solutions,
continues to resonate with customers.”
To support its evaluation of best practices across multiple business performance categories,
Frost & Sullivan employs a customized Decision Support Matrix (DSM). The DSM is an
analytical tool that compares companies’ performance relative to each other with an integration
of quantitative and qualitative metrics. The DSM features criteria unique to each Award category
and ranks importance by assigning weights to each criterion. The relative weighting reflects
current market conditions and illustrates the associated importance of each criterion according
to Frost & Sullivan. Fundamentally, each DSM is distinct for each market and award category.
The DSM allows the Frost & Sullivan research and consulting teams to objectively analyze each
company’s performance on each criterion relative to its top competitors and assign performance
ratings on that basis. The candidates for the Company of the Year award are assessed based
on the following DSM criteria: growth strategy excellence, growth implementation excellence,
degree of innovation with products and technologies, leadership in customer value and
leadership in market penetration.
