Access to information---where and when employees need it

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) let employees confidently access the business-critical information they need - when and where they need it. WLANs perform traditional network communications functions using radio waves in place of traditional physical wires (technology also known as WI-FI). The IEEE 802.11 standard defines the radio wave communication method.

  • Includes access points, wireless LAN client adapters, bridges, antennas, and accessories that utilize industry standard IEEE 802.11a/b/g technologies for full interoperability with other vendors’ wireless products Integrates seamlessly into an existing network as a wireless overlay
  • Creates freestanding all-wireless networks
  • Enables mobility and increasing productivity quickly and cost-effectively
What is 802.11?
802.11 is the family of specifications for WLANs developed by IEEE. There are several specifications in the family. 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g use Ethernet protocol and CSMA/CA (carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance) for path sharing. The 802.11a specification is better suited to enterprise networks, as it operates in the 5 GHz band, while 802.11 b and g work in the 2.4 GHz band.
